Hiatus Anniversary

Well, it’s been a year. I can’t believe it.

No excuses this time — honestly, I’m finding it more and more difficult to actually sit down and write. Sure, I’ve had plenty of food-related experiences. A year’s worth. But I just can’t sit in front of another screen for hours, sharing those experiences with the world.

Especially because everybody and their mother is food blogging nowadays. Is it lazy of me to stop, or noble? Since I’m contributing less noise to an already cacophonous (SAT word!) digital world, I’ll say noble.

Anyway, I may show up now and again to put something up. But for now, you can count this as me signing off. It’s been fun…and filling.



Blogging Fail


In which I apologize for a distinct lack of posting and explain why that is.

  1. Work has been a madhouse.
  2. I went on vacation.
  3. I moved.
  4. I moved.
  5. I moved.

The good news? I moved to New York City. Or maybe that’s a bad thing, considering how many food bloggers are already here and doing a damn better job than me.

Anyway, I hope to be getting this blog back into fighting shape by September, so please stay tuned!

Wow, what a strange trip it’s been.

A metaphorical trip that is. This month-long hiatus joins the great hiatuses in history – none of which I can actually name – but it is one I hope not to repeat anytime soon. Just for your clarification, here’s a few reasons I haven’t posted in a while:

  1. That comic. January was all about promotion for We Make Clouds, but in the end, it wasn’t enough. We placed second, which would normally be pretty good, but in this contest, is the same as placing third through tenth. If you voted, thanks. I’ll let you know if and when we start our own site.
  2. Family/personal stuff. ‘Nuff said.
  3. Work. My job has been insane lately, affording me precious little time for outside pursuits. I did manage to get a trip to Chicago out of it, so it’s not all bad. Plus, I have a job… and in this economy, I can’t complain about that.

Well, that’s it. I have a few things to share with your from Chicago, as well as some archived items that I never got to – a scallop dish, chocolate mousse and some general food news.

So, if you’re still around, stay tuned! And if you’re not here anymore… uh, come back!

Hey, everybody. I know you’re wondering why my food-related output has been so scattershot lately.

Well, there are a number of reasons, but none I’m more proud of than my first web comic. It’s called We Make Clouds and it is currently competing in the monthly American Idol style contest on Zuda Comics.

I know a lot of you could care less about this stuff, but I would be eternally grateful if any of you (and your friends, family members, acquaintances, etc.) could sign up on Zuda and VOTE for my comic. It’s a fairly simple process and it would mean a lot to this food guy.

I promise, I am NOT abandoning Man Eat Food. But a lot of my energy this month will be going toward turning out the vote for my other baby, so please bear with me.

It takes a bold blogger to tell you he’s on hiatus in the middle of that hiatus. That’s procrastination we can believe in.

Truth is, things have been way too busy this past week and don’t look to be letting up anytime soon. Just thought you’d like to know.

The New (and Final) Philly 15

It’s been a long time coming, but I’ve finally updated the list of my favorite Philadelphia restaurants.

Since I’m bad at decisions and love alliteration, ten has become fifteen. And why “final?” Well, that’s another story entirely.

The short version is that I’ve moved out of Philadelphia. Maybe I’ll get to the long version eventually, but for now, I will be bringing you the latest food news, restaurant reviews and random opinions from beautiful northern New Jersey.

I still have a few more Philly stories to push out before I switch over completely. I hope you enjoy the new list and these last Philly posts as much as I loved living and eating in the City of Brotherly Love.
